Last Saturday, October 12, the Heritage Auction House at its headquarters in Dallas, Texas (USA), auctioned two works by Romulo Royo, which acquired very good results.
On the occasion of the awaited auction “International Comic Art”, the artists were able to share the noise of the hammer with many other great names of this theme, both European and international, being able to name some masters of the genre such as Hergé, Moebius, Frank Miller, Will Eisner, Frank Frazetta or Alex Raymond. In addition, both were part of the select cast of the so-called Platinum section, thus being able to show the importance of the artists within the auction itself.
Heritage Auctions, founded in 1976, is one of the most important global auction houses, specializing in the sale of collectibles such as art, coins, comics and antiques. Its influence in the art market is remarkable, boosting the recognition and value of the works of both emerging and recognized artists.
The works that were taken not only reached the estimated price, but exceeded expectations with great results. The biggest example was how the work on paper ‘Mickey Mouse Exists’ (by Romulo Royo) sold for $13,750.00 against its estimated price of $7,000.00, practically doubling its value.
